Police arrests 2 Women for Inflicting Injury 9-year-old & Using her to beg for Alms

Two women, identified only as Amadi and Mama Esther have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly abusing a nine-year-old girl, Joy, in the FESTAC Town area of the state.
The report stated that Amadi allegedly poured a chemical on the victim, making her sustain injuries on different parts of the body. The suspects reportedly took the victim to a pedestrian bridge in the FESTAC area where she was made to beg for alms from passersby.
A passerby who observed the victim’s condition reported the case to the police and the women were arrested. The police later referred the case to the Office of the Public Defender (OPD), which transferred the victim to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and other related matters (NAPTIP).
“The girl lived in Port Harcourt with her parents. But last year, her mother handed her over to Mama Esther after the latter promised to support the family by taking the girl to Lagos. She said the girl would continue her education when they get to Lagos.
However, when she brought her to Lagos, she decided to hand her over to Amadi, who she owed some money. The woman then decided to use her for begging.
The girl said she noticed that Amadi would make her sleep before pouring a substance suspected to be chemical on her body. By the time she woke up and scratched the spots after feeling some pains, they would become sore. The woman would then bandaged the place and take her out for begging.
She said whenever the injuries heal, she would make her sleep again and pour the chemical on her. The woman started with her bottoms and then her laps. She said such  had happened about four different times,” a Social Worker told PUNCH
According to another source, Mama Esther confessed to the crime, adding that she received between N2,500 to N3,000 daily.
“The girl said although they lived in a slum in the Oyingbo area, the woman always took her to FESTAC to beg. She said there were other girls in the slum. She could not recall the exact place where her parents lived in Port Harcourt. She mentioned streets like Rumuokoro, Saint Jude and Rumola. She said she attended Saint Jude Academy and was in basic three before she was brought to Lagos. The girl explained that her younger sister, Eberechi, was with another family. However, the suspect had maintained that they lived under the bridge,” the source added.
Joseph Famakin, the NAPTIP Lagos Zonal Coordinator said: “The girl was brought to us last Friday and she is going through some psychological counseling and treatment. We are also investigating if there are other people involved in the crime. The two suspects are with the police.”
According to the Director of OPD, Salami Olubukola, “This is a despicable act and the height of man’s inhumanity to man which must be condemned by all. Lagos State will never condone child abuse and cruelty and we shall go to any length to protect our children from barbaric acts.”

End Time: Pastor Rapes 17-Year-Old Girl After Pretending He Was Praying & Anointing Her [Photo]

 
A pastor, Adekunle Francis, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command at Ipamesan, Sango Ota, for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl, Dolapo.
The suspect, who was arrested on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, was said to have lured the girl into an uncompleted building under the pretext of praying for and anointing her.
As soon as they entered the uncompleted building, the pastor was said to have turned on the girl and raped her.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the victim later reported her ordeal at the Sango Police Station, adding that the Divisional Police Officer, Akinsola Ogunwale, immediately dispatched a team of detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
He said, “On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He told policemen at the Sango Police Division that the act was the work of the devil.”
Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

Man Stabs Neighbour On His Manhood In Lagos

 

The prosecutor, Insp Nwosu George, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 17 at his residence.
The 32-year-old man, Obed Fwoms,  who is standing trial on a one-count charge of wounding and similar acts, unlawfully assaulted Ofoke by stabbing him with a knife on his manhood.
George said:
“Ofoke said that he was coming from work when he saw other tenants in the compound gathering around Fwoms.  The complainant said he asked one of his neighbours what had happened and he was told that Fwoms damaged the ceiling of the house to connect electricity supply without informing others.
Ofoke, who confronted the accused on what he had done, told him it was only a thief that would damage the ceiling of the house without informing other tenants.
He said the accused, who was annoyed about the statement, brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed his manhood with it. The complainant said he was quickly rushed to the hospital by his neighbours who were at the scene of the incident and the case was reported to the police, which led to the arrest of the accused person.
The offence contravened Section 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011,” the prosecutor stated.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge. In his ruling, the Magistrate M.O Osinbajo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties. Osinbajo adjourned the matter till December 19 for hearing, ordering that the sureties must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Soldiers Take Over Lagos, Many Wounded As Transport Workers Clash (Read Full Details!!)

Soldiers have reportedly taken over Oshodi, a major metropolis of Lagos following a clash that occurred between rival groups of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The Nigerian Tribune reports that the clash occurred between the night of Tuesday, November 22 and the early hours of Wednesday, November 23 at the Bolade area of Oshodi leaving many with various degrees of injury.
Soldiers have been deployed to the Oshodi area of Lagos as factions of NURTW clash.
When the battle raged on on Tuesday, a team of anti-riot policemen reportedly dispersed them. However, they were said to have regrouped Wednesday wielding and freely using various dangerous weapons.
One of the factions was said to be loyal to Talo Skibo while the other faction is belongs to be owned by a popular Lagos resident nicknamed Bush.
The hoodlums were further said to have clashed with the soldiers who attempted to resolve the crisis thus causing serious confusion and fear.
It is not known what actually caused the clash, but the soldiers were still in the area at the time of this report.

A Nigerian man, who has been trying to travel out to United States of America (USA) has been found dead after he was found hanging.
The young man, from Umuaka community in Imo State, whose name could not be ascertained was in his mid-30s. Members of Umuaka autono­mous community woke up to find the deceased hanging on the roof of a house.
Items allegedly recovered from the late young man include documents that showed that he was due to depart Njaba to La­gos for onward travel to America.
The documents include international passport and Visa found by his dangling feet by sympathizers who thronged the ven­ue.
Efforts by The Authority to get more information proved abortive as no one had any information as to why he “took his own life”.

A 49-year-old man named Frank Darlington has been arrested on Monday, November 21, 2016 by the Lagos state police command for allegedly rapping three 18-year-old boys in Lagos.
He was arrested after one of the victims was feeling severe pain in his anus and was forced to narrate his ordeal to his mother that the owner of his academy had sodomized him through the anus.
The mother afterwards reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Agege police station who immediately ordered for the arrest of the suspect.
Frank Darlington who was said to be the owner of the football academy in Agege Area of Lagos state accepted to have been involved in the acts since the year 2015.
” I don’t know what came over me, but the truth is that I have been doing this since last year because me and my players usually have bath together after training session, and that was how I developed the interest in the act.
”There was a day I invited a player to my house, and I had sex with him, but the next day, the boy refused to come to training, and I had to go to his house and his mother told me he was sick, but later I saw him training with another team. I tried my best to get him back to my academy, but I never knew they have reported the case to the police,” he explained
Meanwhile, Fatai Owoseni who is the Lagos state Commissioner of Police stated that the suspect would soon be charged to court

The Niger Police Command has confirmed the death of three persons in a skirmish that ensued in Suleja on Monday afternoon.
Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Bala Elkanah, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Minna that normalcy has, however, been restored.
“A thieve who stole a handset stabbed the owner in the stomach when he was pursued. A mob that witnessed the act stabbed the thief back in retaliation.
“The patrol team of the police intervened quickly and took three persons with fatal injuries to the hospital. On reaching the hospital, all of them died unfortunately.
“So, we’ve restored normalcy and urged all residents to go about their normal businesses as we continue with our investigation towards finding the perpetrators of this heinous act,” he told NAN.
An eyewitnessed told NAN that some roads were diverted from the scene of the accident between the Emir Roundabout and the Police ‘B’ division by security personnel.
Commuters going to Abuja and other destinations have to divert to alternative routes Tuesday morning to get out of town.

Masked men have robbed two Qatari women and their driver on a motorway north of Paris, taking valuables worth €5m (£4.5m; $5.6m), police sources say.
The sisters had just left Le Bourget airport in their Bentley on Monday evening when they were forced off the road and sprayed with tear gas.
"Everything in the vehicle: jewels, clothes, luggage" was taken, a police source told AFP news agency.
A Saudi prince was robbed while passing through the same area two years ago.

A suicide bomber has killed at least 27 people at a Shia Muslim mosque in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
Many more were wounded in the blast at an annual Shia ceremony at the Baqir ul Olum mosque in the west of the city.
The attacker arrived on foot and blew himself up among worshippers inside.
So-called Islamic State (IS) said that it was behind the blast. It is the latest of several recent attacks on Afghanistan's Shia community claimed by the Sunni Muslim militant group.
Monday's bombing took place at 12:30 local time (08:00 GMT) during a service to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Muhammad's grandson and a Shia martyr.

Eyewitnesses said the service was almost over when the bomb was detonated.
Police gave the figure of 27 dead, but the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said 32 were killed and more than 50 injured. Some reports suggest a higher number of wounded.
IS said the attack was carried out by an IS "fighter" but gave no other details on its self-styled Amaq news agency.
"I was inside the mosque and the Mullah was reading the prayer," Ewaz Ali, 50, who suffered minor injuries, told the Associated Press news agency.

Another worshipper, Nadir Ali, told AFP news agency the blast had created a cloud of dust: "When the dust settled down, I saw the mosque was full of flesh and blood. I was injured in my waist and had to crawl out of the mosque."
Local reports suggested children were among the dead.
There has not been a proper census for more than 40 years, but it is estimated that around 20% of the Afghan population are Shia Muslims - the rest are Sunni. Most Shia Muslims come from the Tajik and Hazara ethnic minorities.
They have been spared levels of sectarian violence seen in Pakistan and Iraq, but they have been targeted at least three times in recent months:
  • In an explosion at a mosque in October in the northern province of Balkh in which at least 14 people died
  • In a suicide bomb attack on a Shia protest march in July, which left 80 dead
All three attacks were claimed by IS.
Groups affiliated to IS, present in the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar along the Pakistan border, seem intent on fomenting sectarian violence, says the BBC's Harun Najafizada in Kabul.
What is really worrying is that fragile national unity now seems to be targeted, with possibly devastating results if such attacks continue, our correspondent adds. Taliban militants were quick to distance themselves from Monday's attack.
"We condemn this blast," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the BBC. "This act cannot be our work and has nothing to do with us."

Afghan government Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah urged the country not to fall victim to "enemy plots that divide us by titles".
"This attack targeted innocent civilians - including children - in a holy place," he said via Twitter. "It is a war crime and an act against Islam & humanity."

Oba Adewala Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi is the 16th Oluwo of iwo land in Osun state.
He is one of the childhood friends of the current Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. He ascended the throne in November 2015 and is married to Jamaican woman Chin, daughter of rastafarian raggae artist Ludlow Chin.
The oba and his olori met in Canada where he resided before his ascension to the throne. The royal couple welcomed their son last week after the months of the queen carrying a heavy stomach around the kingdom. The precious child was welcomed to the world in a hospital in Canada.

TOO BAD!!! Husband, Wife And New Born Baby In Prison Over Murder

 
A 38yrs old man Bernard Inya, his wife Chinyere (34), their 2-month-old baby have been remanded at the federal prisons in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State over the death of a lady in their community.
The accused persons hail from Ezi Nwachi Ndibe in Afikpo North area of Ebonyi state.
The couple was arraigned by the police at the magistrate’s court on charges of murder.
The offence is punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Law Cap 33 Volume 1 Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria 2009.
According to Southern City News, the mother of the baby Chinyere had pleaded while on dock that she should be granted bail for the sake of her baby but her plea was not granted by the magistrate.
After listening to the plea of the accused, trial magistrate, Nwachi Olughu, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.
The magistrate also ordered that court processes be forwarded to Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

So Tragic! Stray Bullets Kill Pregnant Woman, Six Others Injured As Hoodlums Clash In Lagos

 
A deadly gang led by one Itakun, has shot dead a pregnant woman, identified only as Iya Abdulsalam, while six others sustained gunshot injuries after hoodlums stormed Jebba Street in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State in the past weekend at about 9pm during an attack to members of a factional group at a drinking joint.
According to a report by Punch Metro, the hoodlums were said to have shot into the air to announce their presence during which a stray bullet hit Iya Abdulsalam, two siblings – Gbenga and Olaoluwa – and four others.
It was learnt that the woman who had visited her husband’s brother in the area when the bullet hit her, other victims, were rushed to a health centre in the community, where she was confirmed dead, while others were said to be responding to treatment.
Speaking to a news reporter, an eyewitness, Toba Kamoru, said the incident created panic in the neighbourhood as people scampered to safety, adding that one of the hoodlums was arrested by the police on Friday.
“There is a woman, who sells herbs and local gins at Cemetery, by Jebba Street; a lot of people usually gather around her in the evening. We were there when we suddenly heard gunshots. We all fled in different directions.
 
“It was when the dust had settled that I learnt that Iya Abdulsalam was shot dead. She sold paint on Lagos Island. She was pregnant. Her husband’s brother she came to visit is called Emir.”
Also speaking, another resident, identified only as Henric, said he was returning from work when the incident happened. He said he could not explain how he got home in the ensuing chaos.
“I later learnt the hoodlums came for rival gang members. They thought their targets were at the joint. Unfortunately, it was innocent people who were trapped, especially the pregnant woman,” he added.
A trader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, urged the police to intensify raids on black spots in Oyingbo, saying residents were disturbed by incessant gang wars in the community.
The Lagos state police spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the armourer of the gang, one Baba Jara, had been apprehended by the Denton Police Division.
She said, “At about 3pm on Friday, clues led the DPO, SP Saheed Quadri, to a notorious member of the gang and he was arrested.  The suspect, known as Baba Jara, is the armourer of the gang.
 
“He confessed to being a member of late Sunday Terror gang. He said the new gang, led by one Itakun, shot five persons on Jebba Street on Thursday, killing a woman. We shall flush all the hoodlums out.”

BUSTED: Syndicate Selling Newborn Babies Nabbed In Lagos

 
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested members of a syndicate which allegedly specialised in selling newborn babies in the Satellite Town area of the state.
Some members of the gang, led by a woman, Chinenye Amama, were arrested penultimate Friday by policemen attached to the D9 Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.
They were caught with a female newborn baby, who had been rescued and reunited with her mother.
A police source told Punch that the rescued baby and her mother had been transferred to the Juvenile Welfare Centre in the state.
He said, “The syndicate was arrested on November 4, at about 6am. A team of policemen, acting on a tip-off, stormed an isolated house, where the syndicate kept their victims.
“We recovered a female newborn baby from the suspects and they are in custody at the SCIID, including their leader, Chinenye.”
Lagos State Police PRO, SP Dolapo Badmos confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects mentioned a religious leader as their boss. She added that the police were working on the information.
She said, “The case is under investigation. Preliminary investigation reveals that it is a syndicate that specialises in selling newborn babies. One religious leader was named by the suspects.
“The command is working on the clue to ascertain the religious leader’s culpability. Investigation will be made open on that as it goes.”

She also noted that lack of trust is the reason most famous ladies find it difficult getting married.
The producer, who once dated singer Pasuma, revealed that their relationship did not lead to marriage because they were both celebrities.
According to her, celebrity marriages don’t last because both parties are in the limelight.
“Life is full of challenges and I encountered so many obstacles when I started acting. Firstly, my father was not happy that I became an actress,” she told Punch.
“When he discovered, he was very angry because he thought I would get a proper job. Besides, nobody in my father’s family had ever become an actress.
“Most of them were doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. My father and my stepmother did not support me and they tried to frustrate my ambition.
“At some point, he asked me to move out of his house if I was bent on becoming an actress. I went to live with my mum and even though she was not happy at what I had decided to do with my life, she did not fail to support me.
The actress also noted that her natural endowments at a point made her cry.
She added,
“People say I have a provocative figure but I did not create myself. When I was younger, people used to taunt me and I would cry.
“Over time, I have come to love my body irrespective of whether I have unusually large breasts or buttocks.
“When I walk on the streets of Lagos, men look at me in a seductive manner but I don’t care as long as I am not indecently dressed.
“In fact, some people scream obscenities at me. Some call me Cowbell and I either laugh it off or just ignore them.
When asked about marriage, she said’
“Being in the limelight has it disadvantages. One of the demerits of being in the limelight is that one finds it difficult to find true love.
“You can’t tell if that man or woman loves you for who you are or because you are a celebrity. I will get married when God says it is my time.

Bag Of Rice Crashes And Sells For N13,000 In Some States (See New Details)

 
The Head, Development Financing Department, CBN, Owerri Branch, Mrs Nkechi Osuji, has revealed that a bag of rice is now being bought in some states for just N13,000.
The Central Bank of Nigeria, says the agricultural initiative, `Anchor Borrowers Programme’ launched by the Federal Government has led to significant reduction in the price of local rice.
The Head, Development Financing Department, CBN, Owerri Branch, Mrs Nkechi Osuji, made the disclosure on Saturday in Owerri.
She spoke at a sensitisation workshop organised by the office of Executive Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Human Capacity Development and Poverty Alleviation.
The one-day event was attended by local government representatives of small holder farmers, cooperative societies, youths and women groups drawn from the 27 local government areas of Imo.
Osuji said as a result of the new agricultural initiative, a 50kg bag of local rice now sells for N13,000 in states that have embraced the Anchor Borrowers Programme.
She said that if more states join the programme rice production would be greatly boosted.
Osuji told the participants that the CBN, Bank of Agriculture, Bank of Industry, commercial and micro-finance banks have provisions to finance agricultural activities.
She advised participants to embrace the programme as it was capable of creating thousands of jobs as well as boost the overall development of the nation.
The Imo State Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment, Mrs Ngozi Iheancho, commended the initiative and urged participants to embrace the programme.
She said that NDE in the state was ready to support the programme and advised against what she called involvement of `ghost farmers’ in the programme.
She said, “Let there be no ghost farmers and unnecessary bureaucracy in the implementation of the programme in Imo.
“If this programme is genuinely executed, a lot of jobs and wealth will be created in Imo.”
Dr Edwin Uche, the Executive Assistant to Gov. Okorocha on Human Capacity Development and Poverty Alleviation, said the event was organised on order to expose farmers.
Uche said the state would expose farmers to grow rice, cassava, and maize, noting that the short and long term target of the programme is to create thousands of jobs in a year.
Participants who spoke, appealed to the organisers to step up action to ensure that Imo farmers key into the scheme like farmers in other states.

Adeosun, Emefiele must resign now, Reps demand

 


The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, have incurred the wrath of members of the House of Representatives.
The House adhoc committee on bailout funds extended to states, have called for the immediate resignation of both ministers over their handling of the nation’s economy, and also failing to appear before them to explain certain government policies.
The panel, which accused them of mismanaging the nation’s economy, made the call after Adeosun, Emefiele and the Director General of the Debt Management Office, DMO, Abraham Nwankwo failed to appear before it to answer questions on the disbursement and management of the over N700 billion extended to states as bail-out by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
At the committee’s sitting on Thursday, Adeosun failed to appear or send any representative, while Emefiele and Nwankwo sent representatives who were rejected by the committee.

 Angered by the development, the Chairman of the committee, Rep Sadiq Ibrahim (APC, Adamawa), said: “The attitudes of these top government officials show who is mismanaging the economy of the country. Nigerians should rise up and call for their resignation immediately.
“If it is to bring virement, they would rush down, but now that they are to come and explain to Nigerians how the bail-out fund running into over N700bn was disbursed, they are sending representatives; they are only interested in borrowing. This has to stop.”
Other members of the committee also condemned the attitude of the government officials, just as the committee directed them to personally appear before it with relevant documents.

The incident occurred at about 9.15AM on Tuesday morning,
